We recently acquired this awesome Hot rod from a gentleman in TX who was an avid car collector and had gotten this car from a friend of his in a trade he did.  He really wanted a Shelby Cobra and it just so happened we had one.  A week later we transported the Cobra replica to him and picked up this awesome ’31 3 window Coupe Replica from him. He called it a Phantom 3 window Coupe and I did a little research to better understand what the Phantom meant. Basically it means it is a car that Ford did not actually produced and is used in the Hot Rod hobby to describe a car that has been custom done.  The Model A’s typically had doors that overlapped the body. This Phantom has doors that fit flush with the body producing less road noise. I was also told that the grill on this car is actually a ’32 style grill.  The roof line is chopped 3″ from the stock height.  The previous owner explained that there are very few of these 31 3 Window Coupe Replicas out there and he did not know the name of the company that built the body but thought he was told they build about 30 of these.  This is a Fiberglass body Replica and it is a very nice quality kit and best of all has an awesome drivetrain and comfort features that make it easy and fun to drive and enjoy. I will do my best to accurately describe the condition and provide enough pictures and a couple of videos so you can get a great feel for what you might be buying.  If you have always wanted a cool looking Hot Rod like this but want one that you can drive in 95 degree heat without sweating your butt off then check this baby out!!!

As I am sure you will agree it is hard to beat the Black color on a Hot Rod 3 Window Coupe and this one has a nice dark red pinstripe accent that compliments the burgundy interior.  Based on what I was told we believe this car was built right around 2006 and there is only a little under 6000 miles put on it since it was built.  It was driven and enjoyed by previous owners and as a result there are some imperfections on the body but nothing that shows from 5 feet away or takes away from the cool factor of this machine. Upon close inspection you will see some flaws common in Fiberglass body kits. There are some small “star” cracks in paint along the front fenders from rocks that probably kicked up under the fender and left small marks.  Some minor cracking in the paint at the front beam areas of the front fenders and some chips that were touched up along the edge behind the passenger door. Basically what I am pointing out is that this Hot Rod is a driver plus quality ride that is not flawless but is definitely a qality built rod that will impress others and be enjoyed by you!!! The minor flaws will simply give you peace of mind that you can get in and drive it wherever you want and not have to worry about it’s first rock chip. Overall the body presents itself very, very well! You will see that this Hot Rod also has Electric Poppers for the suicide doors and I demonstrate this in the video. You can unlatch them from inside and there is also a safety latch you can lock to ensure they do not fly up when you are driving. The trunk used to be set up for a remote release but for some reason was disconnected. You can open the trunk area by hand and I am sure it could be reconnected easily if desired. The first day we got it we stopped and put some gas in it before showing it off to the wife and my 3 daughters.  Within minutes 3 people crowded around it and hounded me with questions and compliments. This has not really been happening with my other classics as much but I think this Rod is so cool that everyone wants to have a look.  It was 95 degrees out and people could not believe I had the windows up. When I explained the car had a modern A/C system by vintage air and that my car was probably cooler inside then their BMW they were truly impressed.  Then I lowered the Power window and waved as they stood staring in awe. Basically make sure you leave a few extra minutes every time you drive this baby because you will get all the attention you can handle. Take a look:

Ok, with the suicide doors popped open lets slide inside and take a look at the beautiful Burgundy interior.  Very comfortable set of bucket seats were installed and professional door panels and headliner to match. Very little wear on the interior other then a small mark on the drivers side seat bottom.  Very nice center console houses the power window switches and surrounds what I believe to be a  Lokar Automatic Shifter.  Seat belts installed for driver and passenger.  Modern stereo unit installed between the 2 seats with speakers behind the seats. If you love your music you can definitely upgrade the system with more speakers for better sound quality.  Remote for stereo is velcro attached to the dash. Modern gauges in the dash all work although the speedometer reads a bit on the fast side. The odometer currently reads a little under 6000 miles which may change slightly if I decide to take it out on the weekend.  Very nice LeCarra steering wheel mounted to a tilt steering column.  Vintage Air Conditioning and Heat controls are neatly mounted below the dash and the Air conditioning will keep you icy cold!!! Overall the interior is in beautiful condition and is a professional install. Here is a look inside:

As sweet as this 3 Window Coupe looks it drives and handles just as sweet!  Very nicely built 350 V8 that sounds pretty stock powers this lightweight rod. We do not have any specs or build date on the motor but there is no doubt it was either a crate motor or a recently rebuilt motor as it pulls strong at all speeds.  Edelbrock 4bbl carb and intake and nice set of headers flow out the sweet sounding dual exhaust. Strong and smooth shifting turbo 400 automatic transmission and Ford 8″ rear with very friendly highway gear set up. Handling is tight thanks to a Heidts Front Suspension set up with front and rear coil overs. Stopping is easy with a nice front disc brake set up.  I was truly amazed how smooth this car drove on the highway and how tight it handles around turns. Nice set of American Racing Wheels wrapped in almost brand new rubber, 225/70/15 on the rear and 225/70/15 up front.   I drove it on a 95 degree afternoon and the previous owner in TX verified this car does not overheat and you can run the A/C all day. The motor is tight with no leaks or drips noticed.  Basically this is the ultimate cruiser that you can comfortably drive where ever you want to go!
