Have you been searching for a high quality, investment grade, show quality Classic ’50’s Truck that you can also drive and enjoy in comfort?
Do you want it to have Ice Cold Air Conditioning, Power Windows, Power Steering and Power front Disc Brakes??
Do you want to have one that truly stands out and started as a rust free Southern Truck and now has some custom touches that will draw the crowds wherever you go??
Well, this Space Gray Silver Metallic 1951 5 Window might just be the one!!!! We acquired this awesome truck a few months ago from a classic car enthusiast here in the Atlanta GA area who spent over a year having this beautiful truck restored close to the level you see it. His joy comes from the build process and after the first few shows he decided he was ready to move on to his next project. In the meantime he decided he loved a 2005 Chevy SSR convertible truck we had in stock so we worked out a deal and the ’51 became ours. We took the truck up a notch ( at least we think so) by adding some beautiful and vintage custom hand-painted pin striping by Conways Customs, slightly lowering the front end, and adding a set of brand new 17″ Torque thrust polished wheels. This truck underwent a high quality frame off restoration and started as a very rust free, all steel , Southern truck believed to have spent most of its life in the state of GA. When the restoration was done it was built so that it would maintain much of the classic look but with a slight rest mod effect and modern drive train so that it would be a much more enjoyable truck to drive and show. This is a very fresh restoration, completed in the fall of 2012 and there is less then 1000 miles on the build. I have driven this truck the last few days in the early spring sunny weather here in the Atlanta GA area and it has turned heads and stirred up conversation every where I went. I will do my best to provide enough pictures, a couple of videos so you can hear it running, and an honest description so you can decide if this 5 Window is the truck you have been waiting for. The Spring Car Show and cruise in season is here….grab this beauty before the next car guy or gal does!!!! I am always willing to talk to serious buyers during the auction and am willing to end my listing early if we can agree on a price. Sit back and enjoy!!
The body on this 5 Window is truly amazing and near flawless!! Unlike many of the old classic trucks on the market that have fiberglass fenders, this one is all steel and the body panels are amazingly straight and solid. Even the bottom corners of the cab look amazing. When you have a super solid body to start out with it makes it a little easier to end up with a total show quality paint job. The Space Gray Silver Metallic color on this ’51 sparkles in the sunlight and takes a beautiful dark tone in the shade. While the body is in amazing condition I cannot call it flawless due to just a couple of extremely minor chips that i noticed, one on the edge of the hood on the drivers side and one on the edge of the drivers side door. Beautiful brand new chrome front and rear bumpers, new chrome grille, chrome tail lights and dual chrome side view mirrors add to the look. Absolutely gorgeous pecan wood in the bed that was stained and clear coated. Optional lower rear bumper piece color matched with rear taillights and a custom spring loaded gas cap. Color matched running boards with all new hardware. All new glass and weather stripping. I have to say that the 5 window design really makes sense as there is much better visibility while driving this truck Wet sanded and buffed to a very high level finish. We brought in one of the top Custom pin-striping experts to lay out some gorgeous, vintage touches. He chose a combination of Chamois and Pimento that really pops and to me adds just the right amount of accent to this awesome gray metallic. Rear tailgate has the Chevrolet logo painted in the Chamois color. This 5-window is begging to be shown off at the local shows, cruise-ins or anywhere you decide to take it. Here is a photo tour of the body:
Open the drivers door of this 5-window pick up and you will see a beautiful charcoal colored leather looking interior that was custom done using a 60/40 bench seat form a 2000 Chevy S-10 truck with a fold down arm rest that opens for storage. Door panels and head liner are finished to match. Desirable features like Power Windows, Tilt steering wheel and updated gauges are installed. Classic instrument gauges look great and all work properly. New black carpeting with Chevy rubber floor mats. Polished shifter, turn signal arm, and polished pedals. Grant 4 spoke tilt steering wheel with custom chevy logo horn button. Push that horn button and hear the great Ah-ooo-ga horn that is installed. A modern Kenwood am/fm/cd head unit is neatly installed under the drivers side seat and remote control is included. Speakers are neatly hidden behind the front seats. For safety, shoulder seat belts were added. Aftermarket vintage styled air conditioning unit is mounted beneath the dash and cools the cabin off great thanks to a completely rebuilt compressor and all new R134 A/C system. Overall the interior of this ’51 is show ready!! Have a look:
Under the hood of this resto modded ’51 Chevy 5-window is a 5.7 Litre 350 V8 that is completely rebuilt to be smooth and reliable. I do not have specifics on the build but I would estimate it at 300 horsepower and very stock. There are slightly under 700 miles on the drive train since it has been completed and I drove the truck about 40 miles in the last few days and it drove fantastic. Edelbrock Performer aluminum intake with a nicely tuned Holley 4bbl feeds the fuel. HEI electronic ignition helps this baby fire right up.Beautiful set of ball milled polished aluminum valve covers and a sweet custom air cleaner painted and hand pinstriped to match the exterior. The smooth running 350 breathes out of stock manifolds through a set of mellow sounding mufflers and out the dual chrome tip exhaust. 12-volt charging system was completely gone through by a Senior GM tech to insure everything worked properly and all new wiring in the build process. Expensive aluminum radiator with electronic cooling fan in front of A/c condenser set up to push air along with manual fan behind radiator to pull air through keeps this truck running cool. Turbo 350 Automatic transmission shifts strong and smooth.
Power steering makes handling a breeze and the whole front end has been updated with a Nova front sub frame very nicely installed which really helps this old truck drive exceptionally well. New power front disc brake set up makes stopping almost effortless. Chevy S10 rear axle with 2.93:1 gear ratio for easy highway cruising. all new brake lines and rear drum brakes. All new coil springs and new rear leafs. The front end was slightly lowered and this truck has a great stance partially due to the beautiful brand new set of 17 x 8 American Racing Torq Thust polished aluminum rims wrapped in almost brand new radials, 255/50/17 in back and 235/45/17 up front. The undercarriage and chassis show very nicely and a for safety a Summit racing fuel cell was mounted under the rear bed flooring with a quick spring release gas cap in the rear panel. This is a turn key show truck that is ready to cruise!!!! Below are some pics and then a video of this truck running as well.

At this point, the true car guys and gals are still with me….This truck truly looks as good in person as it does in the pictures and as you hear so often with these restored classics, you could not build it for what you can buy it for. This truck is stunning to look at, a joy to drive and will catch all the attention you can handle on the road and at the shows. Keep in mind this one has all the great options including ice cold air conditioning, power windows, modern stereo, power steering, power front disc brakes and more!
