This Auction is for an absolutely stunning ’66 Mustang Convertible that has spent a good portion of its life here in the sunny, dry State of Georgia.  We recently acquired this Triple Black Beauty from a gentleman here in the Atlanta area who has owned it since 2001 when it had 70,169 miles on it. It currently has just 73,750 miles on it so needless to say it was simply used as a weekend cruiser on sunny days.  He purchase it locally in Georgia from a guy who had owned it for many years and also drove it only on sunny days.  When he got it the paint was dull and faded and the interior was showing its age so he had the car professionally restored inside and out.  I think you will agree that the result is awesome and although this work was done close to 10 years ago the car has held up beautifully and looks like it could have been done last month. He and his wife decided that their love for motorcycles had won out and it was time for the Mustang to go to a new home…maybe yours!!  This is a great investment quality Mustang that can be driven and enjoyed. It will probably win its share of trophies at the local shows and will be admired by all who pass you by.  I will do my best to provide you with enough large pictures and a couple of videos to help you decide if this is the right Pony for your stable. Sit back and enjoy!!

The paint and body on this ’66 Convertible are in fantastic condition. When you think that the car was restored close to 11 years ago and that it is black you know that for it to look this good it was done right by a true professional.  There is no rust or signs of rust anywhere on the body. No bubbles or cracking in the paint from signs of poor body work. The body panels are very straight and the gaps between panels is awesome. Body panels appear to be original and unmolested. You will see in some of the pics that follow that the paint has a mirror like finish to it and shines like it was done last week…but the reality is that it was done almost 11 years ago!! We had it professionally wet sanded and buffed so it is ready for the shows! A small secret is that this car was originally Antique Bronze in color but someone made the right choice and converted it to black.  Chrome and trim look excellent. All of the glass looks great and windows roll up and down nicely. I will not call the body flawless but it is way above average and comes close to show quality. It will definitely bring home trophies at the local and maybe regional shows but this Pony deserves and wants to be driven!! Here is a walk around photo tour of the body and at the end there is a video for another look around:

Although I always recommend these Classic Mustang Convertibles get driven with the top down as often as possible it is nice to know that this Pony has a close to brand new black convertible top with a crystal clear rear window. It is a manual top that is extremely easy to operate up or down and has the lock down latches and a brand new boot cover with storage bag that fits great.  This was an original Deluxe Pony Interior car which I say because there are many cars on the market that people have changed the seat covers out to the Pony style but they were standard interior cars.  The interior looks fantastic!! Center console is very nice although some of the woodgrain trim is lifing a little which can easily be fixed.  Deluxe door panels look great as does the dash and deluxe steering wheel.  Inside the glove box you will find the Emergency flashers switch and an FM radio converter. This car came with an original AM/8-track player that the previous owner paid $300 to have completely rebuilt so it is  working properly. Nice set of Pony Floor mats finish the interior off nicely. All in all the interior is ready for the shows…Have a look:

Under the hood of this Triple Black Beauty is the original C-Code 289 that is believed to have just under 73,750 original miles as indicated on the Georgia Title.  When I bought this car it was 45 minutes away and I drove it back to my warehouse. It drove beautifully but there was a slight hesitation on initial acceleration that I believe was an indication that the 2bbl carburetor could use a rebuild. I had an Aluminum 4 bbl Edelbrock intake with a completely rebuilt 4bbl Holley Carburetor so I went ahead and replaced it with that. The car starts up and drives great as you will see in the video below.  It currently has manual steering, however, it originally was a power steering car and I have the original pump and components. Evidently when the lines were leaking it was simply removed since these cars steer so easily even as manual steering. It also has manual Front Disc Brakes which stop the car easily. C-4 Automatic transmission shifts smoothly.  All of the gauges and lights appear to be working correctly and this Pony is ready to be driven and enjoyed. Nice soft rumble from the dual exhaust. This Pony rides on a nice set of Whitewall Radials wrapped around original 14″ Styled Steel wheels that are in great condition. I do have a folder full of receipts from all the work the previous owner had done to the car since 2001.  The undercarriage is rock solid and it appears that the front floor pans may have been replaced at some point but it was done very nicely with original style pans. Torque boxes and frame rails are rock solid.  Inside of the trunk is also extremely solid with no rust issues and there is an original style mat with spare tire and cover.  Here is a look and also a video of the car running:
