This 1966 Fastback recently arrived to us from its previous owner in Texas who owned the car for over 10 years. He had several muscle cars in his collection but with one of his kids getting ready to go college it was time to thin the herd to help finance the costs of college. He was very hesitant to let go of this Fastback and his kids really wanted him to keep it. It was the nicest car in his collection and therefore he figured selling it would help him the most. Too bad for him but very lucky for the next owner!!! According to the previous owner this Classic Pony ha spent most of its life in the TX area. He purchased it from another car enthusiast in the Texas area. It was originally sold in Iowa as you will see the original owners name listed in the original owners manual that is in the glovebox. Evidently it moved to TX early in its life and judging from the tremendous condition of the body and undercarriage this appears to be correct. Current mileage on the odometer is just under 85,100 which is believed to be correct however there is no documentation to support this. The gentleman we bought it from put under 5000 miles on it during his 10 plus years of ownership. The previous owner did a very light cosmetic restoration on the car about 4 years ago but said there was no rust or body repair needed. The paint had faded and he wanted to bring it back to its original glory…we’re glad he did! This Pony truly looks fantastic inside , outside, underneath and in the engine bay! This Stallion is ready to be driven and enjoyed by its next owner and will surely bring home its share of trophies! I will do my best to provide enough large images, a video so you can hear it running, and an honest description to help you decide if this is the Fastback you have been waiting for…Good luck!
As mentioned the gorgeous raven black body was repainted about 4 years ago and it looks amazing!! I believe it still has all of its original body panels which are very straight and the body panel alignment is fantastic! A functional shelby style hood scoop was added which I think adds to the muscle car look plus it was done correctly so air flows directly to the engine bay. The paint quality is awesome and as you will see in the pictures below there is a ton of high gloss and reflection. The body is really close to flawless although I may have noticed an extremely small rock chip or two. Chrome trim and badges look excellent. Front bumper looks great but the rear bumper does show a little age and it is not as shiny as the front. These are very cheap to replace if desired. Side glass and rear window look great but windshield does have a few rock chip. As you will see from the picture of the door tag later, this ’66 started life as Antique Bronze but was changed to black many years ago before the previous owner had the car. Given how solid and straight the body is I think you will agree that Raven Black was a great color choice and this Pony will turn heads everywhere you go!! Here is a photo tour of the body:
What better interior color to compliment the Raven Black exterior then Red! Interior condition is as nice as the exterior and was redone many years ago but looks awesome. Seats are near perfect with no wear or tear. Door panels, dash pad, rear panels and fold down seat are also all look fantastic. Interior courtesy lights are working as do all of the gauges, turn signals and other lights. An after market wood grain steering wheel adds a nice touch. Aftermarket Am/Fm/cassette was fit in the original radio hole and rear speakers sit in the fold down area so no holes were cut. This is an original Factory A/C car and the under dash and engine bay components all appear to be there but the belt is not connected and the previous owner said he never used the A/c in the 10 years he owned it so it is currently not working but should not be difficult to repair and have working again. He did replace the heater core year ago and the heat and blower fan do work. Have a look inside:
This awesome Fastback is a C-code 289 V8 car that we believe still has its original motor and the mileage may very well be under 85,200 original miles. We do not know if the motor was ever completely rebuilt but we know for sure that it was upgraded to a 4bbl with an Edelbrock intake and Holley 4bbl carb. Beautiful set of ceramic coated headers breathe out the dual turbo thrust exhaust that sounds great as you can hear in the video that follows. Power steering makes handling a breeze and was rebuilt by previous owner 2 years ago. C-4 Automatic Transmission shifts great. Drum brakes all around but they stop with ease. This car runs and drives super strong and there are no leaks or issues at all. Great stance thanks in part tot he American Racing Torq Thrust D wheels wrapped in almost brand new set of BFG Radial rubber. No overheating issues and original highway gears so you can drive this car anywhere. This car is a blast to drive and is ready for the road!!! Engine bay is nicely detailed including a set of Cobra valve covers. Original Vin # is stamped on both the drivers and passenger side inner fenders. Have a look and make sure you listen to the short video so you can hear this Stallion rumble.
THIS PONY RUNS AS GOOD AS IT LOOKS AND HAS THE MUSCLE CAR SOUND THAT WILL MAKE YOU GRIN FROM EAR TO EAR!
