If you are in the market for an awesome Shelby Cobra Replica that stops traffic without breaking the bank then keep reading!!! A little over a year ago a friend of mine called me up and told me he was in the process of buying an Airplane from a woman who’s husband had passed away and in the hanger with the plane was an awesome looking Shelby Cobra Replica. He wanted to see if I would be interested in buying it if he ended up working out a deal when he bought the plane. I told him I would be as I had helped several people sell their Shelby Cobra Replica’s in the past and have always enjoyed these machines. Well, I never heard what happened until a few months ago when I saw my friend driving the Cobra through my neighborhood. He explained how he had bought the plane and had to have the Cobra too but decided to keep it for himself for a while to enjoy with his kids. Well, last week he called me and asked if I would help him market it as he recently has decided to buy some investment property and decided it was time to thin out the toys. I spent an hour with him photographing it and then he dropped it off to me at my warehouse so I could offer it up for sale and here it is! I will do my best to honestly describe this timeless muscle machine and will provide plenty of pics and a couple of videos so you can see the quality of this Factory Five Shelby Replica.  Sit back and enjoy!!!

Based on what my friend was told this Factory Five Replica was built about 5-6 years ago before the gentleman who owned it became ill and passed away. He had barely had a chance to enjoy it before he became ill and it was then stored in his airplane hanger. Unfortunately as a result, my friend was not able to get much information about the build when he bought it so the details I will provide are somewhat limited. I have marketed 2 Shelby Cobra Replicas over the past few years. One was a Superformance and the other was made by Unique Motorcars. While marketing these I became more educated about the differences in the various Shelby Cobra Replicas on the market and the difference in market values. Superformance and Kirkham seem to be the cream of the crop and their Shelby Replicas are built overseas and shipped pretty much complete other then the drive train. They are premium priced and most of their cars will sell for 2-4 times what a Factory Five will sell for.  Factory Five is the worlds largest manufacturer of component car kits and is still in business unlike many of the smaller companies that over the years came and went. They produce a high quality product that is shipped as a kit that the individual or builder then assembles themselves. As a result you will see a wide variety of Factory Five Replicas on the market and the quality of each will vary widely. I have seen some of the lower quality ones that were put together by people who had no business tackling building a car.  Based on what I can see of this particular one I am marketing I would say it was built by someone who definitely had the skills and experience needed to put one of these together right. The overall quality of this car is excellent and it is one you can jump in and drive and enjoy as it is, or take it to the next level with some minor upgrades and changes that will not take very long and not cost very much to accomplish. If you have been thinking about building one of these cars but are smart enough to realize that it will end up costing more to build one then you can buy it already done then this is the one for you!!! While it is complete and ready to drive and enjoy, there are still some finishing touches that you can do to mold it into your personal Shelby Cobra. You do not see many Cobras in this awesome Black and white combination and it definitely turns heads and starts conversations everywhere it is driven.
The paint and body on this Cobra look great and with a wet sand and buff could look even better!! There are some minor flaws in the paint and a few tiny scratches that I am quite sure would be gone once detailed professionally. Keep in mind the pics I have included were taken without any buffing or detailing and as you will see there is plenty of luster and reflection in the paint. There are a few tiny chips in the paint in the door jams that could be easily touched up. Awesome looking and sounding Ceramic coated side-pipes! The roll bar looks great although there is a scratch in the paint that the owner has indicated he will have taken care of for the next owner.  This car would show great at any local car show or cruise in!  Here is a walk around tour of this beauty!!

The black interior of this Cobra looks excellent, however, this is where I think the next owner will be able to do some upgrades and detailing to take this car to the next level. The seats look great and are very authentic. Simpson Racing belts will secure you and your passenger as needed! As with most of these Cobras the interior is pretty bare-boned. The gauges in the dash appear to be working correctly with the exception of the speedometer which is reading too fast and should be an easy fix. The current owner was going to upgrade the gauges to more authentic looking Smith gauges which I would also recommend doing. The Grant steering wheel is nice but could also be upgraded to a more authentic looking one and the steering column area could be given a more finished look as well. Under the dash is a control panel with the ignition switch, fuel pump switch, headlights, and push button starter. There is also a turn signal switch under the left side of the dash. Shifter looks great. Overall the interior looks great but as I pointed out this is the area that I think you could spend a little time and money to really give this Cobra the finished look it deserves. Don’t get me wrong, you do not need to do anything to drive and enjoy this baby the way it is, I am just pointing out where some improvements could be made if desired.  Here is a look at the interior:

Time to get under the hood of this ground pounding street machine! Again, keep in mind that the owner was not able to get much information from the woman who he bought it from so I do not have extensive info on the drive train. I do know that this Cobra only has a little over 2000 miles on it since it was built!! The Ford Motor Sports 302 under the hood is believed to be a crate motor that was nicely built with plenty of horsepower but also tame enough to be driven and enjoyed locally and on the highway. After an exhilarating test drive I would estimate it to be pushing out about 325 hp which anyone who has driven one of these light weight machines is plenty of power to throw you back in your seat and get you from 0-60 in no time flat! The motor is nicely dressed with Ford Motor Sports Valve covers and Air Cleaner.  The only item the current owner had changed when he got it was the carburetor which was not running right when he got it so a new Holley 4 bbl is now providing the fuel to this beast now. As you will see a beautiful set of ceramic coated headers breather out the ceramic coated side pipes and provides the monstrous roar you would expect from a quality Cobra! I provided a video at the end of the auction so you can hear it running. The powerful 302 is mated to a smooth shifting 5 speed transmission and a Ground Pounder 10 bolt rear. The rack and pinion steering makes steering easy and 4 wheel disc brakes ( Wildwood fronts) give you plenty of stopping power. Suspension is tight and firm as you would expect from this authentic road race machine with nice front and rear sway bars.  The current owner has enjoyed this Cobra on some very hot Atlanta days and says it has run cool for him. As you have probably noticed this Cobra is riding on a sweet set of Polished Aluminum American Racing Torque Thrust 2 wheels wrapped in BFG rubber with plenty of tread life left. This Cobra does not come with a top but will come with a car cover. You will find that this Cobra drives out great with plenty of power and rumble for your enjoyment. Keep in mind it drives like a Cobra should which means you are gonna feel the road, have the wind in your hair, and if you are driving it right you will not be able to hold a conversation with your passenger. But, rest assured you will have a grin from ear to ear and will be getting thumbs up and waves from everyone you pass!!
This Cobra is titled as a 1966 Ford Convertible and has a Valid GA Title that will be transferred to the next lucky owner.
