Let me start off with a quick history of this awesome ’68 Pony Convertible. We recently acquired it from a gentleman in Washington State who had owned it since 2006.  He bought it from the daughter of the original owners. The original owners were from Delaware and this Mustang Convertible was purchased from Courtesy Ford on August 30, 1968.  As you will see below we have the Original Sales Invoice, Original Build Sheet,  Original Owner card, Original Manual and Maintenance Folio.  We also have a letter from the daughter of the original owner providing the ownership history.  The car was purchased new by her mother who loved it and drove it to work and everywhere. Her mom passed away in 1994 at the young age of 58.  They had the car repainted in 1989 which I believe is the only time this car was ever repainted.  In 1996 the car was passed along to the daughter who was living in Washington State and the mileage at that time was 65,075.  She sold it 10 years later when the mileage was at  66,316 to the gentleman we bought it from who was the Commercial Account Manager at a local Ford Dealership.  The current mileage is slightly under 68,700 miles so needless to say it has been babied and gently driven in the past 16 years.  In 2007 the car was completely gone through mechanically and runs and drives absolutely great!! This Pony is not a show car but would fit in at any local car show or cruise in and probably win its share of trophies.  I will do my best to provide enough pictures and a video of the car running so you can decide if this is the right Pony to add to your Stable this Spring.  Sit back and Enjoy!

HERE IS A LOOK AT THE PAPERWORK AND DOCUMENTATION WHICH IS RARE TO FIND ON THESE CLASSIC MUSTANGS:

Tahoe Turquoise is a color you just do not see very often on these beautiful Classic Mustangs and it truly stands out in the sea of red, white and black Pony’s.  As you will see, the paint on this car still glistens and has plenty of luster even though it was last repainted in 1989.  It is quite obvious that the car was babied and always garaged during its life. Body panels are very nice and I believe it is wearing most of its original body panels although there may have been some lower quarter panel repair done at the time it was painted 20+ years ago. There is also a small spot on the front corner of the drivers side door that looks like it had some repair at that time.  We had the paint professionally wet sanded and buffed out and our detailer was impressed with how well the paint had held up.  Of course it is important to keep in mind that the paint is 20+ years old and the car was driven and enjoyed so their are some minor chips and flaws along the body that keep this car from being an absolute show winner.  However, as you will see it presents itself very well and needs nothing to be driven and enjoyed and would still fit in at any of your local shows and cruise in events.  Chrome bumpers and trim all look excellent with only minor signs of wear.  A white C -stripe was added recently which nicely accents the white convertible top. Here is a walk around tour of the body:

Complimenting the Tahoe Turquoise exterior is a White Convertible top with the split glass rear window.  Originally this car came with a black top which was changed out to the white top which was a great move. The top is manual and operates smoothly and easily both up and down. It has the correct hold down tabs and a turquoise colored boot cover which goes on easily.  Open the drivers side door and slide into the very comfortable two-tone Aqua and Turquoise interior. Seats are in fantastic condition. Carpeting, dash pad, door panels all look excellent as well. The interior is very original including and there are seat belts both front and rear. Original steering wheel in nice condition with one small crack as was quite common.  Windows all roll up and down nicely and glass is in excellent condition.  All of the gauges are nice and clear and operate correctly. New set of aqua Pony floor mats just added.  All in all the interior is in excellent condition and ready to go needing nothing. Have a look:

This C-Code ’68 Mustang is powered by the original 289 V8 mated to the original C-4 Automatic transmission and 2:79 gears in the rear.  This well documented Pony is believed to have under 68,700 original miles and was always well maintained.  In 2007 the gentleman who we bought the car from had his Service Department at the Ford dealership he worked at completely go through the car and fix anything that was needed.  A variety of items were replaced including the upper and lower control arms and bushings, new rear brakes, and a variety of smaller items at a total cost of $1684. This work was done just 2000 miles ago.  Power steering makes handling a breeze and the manual drum brakes work great.  Dual exhaust has a nice tone as you will hear in the video below.  This cars runs and drives beautifully and we have driven it several times at all speeds in 85 degree temperatures with no issues. We added a brand new set of 15 x 7 Magnum 500 wheels wrapped in brand new BFG Radial TA tires. This is truly a Mustang Convertible that is turn key and ready to go! As you will see the original door tag is still on the car and matches the Vin # stamping on the Drivers side inner fender apron.  This Pony also still wears the original buck tag from the factory.  Here is a look under the hood:
