GORGEOUS 1968 FORD MUSTANG FASTBACK SHELBY GT350 CLONE FINISHED IN BRITTANY BLUE READY TO SHOW AND GO!!
HIGH QUALITY RESTORATION WITH SHOW QUALITY PAINT AND FINISH THAT IS READY TO BE DRIVEN AND ENJOYED!
There is no doubt that Shelby Mustangs are perhaps the sweetest group of Ponies that Ford put out whether it was 1965-1970 or even now. The sad reality is that Real Shelby Mustang GT 350’s in the condition of the car you are about to see are selling at a price that most either cannot afford or simply do not want to put out for a Classic Car they are going to want to drive and enjoy. This 1968 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 offers the best of both worlds!! You will have a car that most people will swear is a real Shelby as they see it on the street or at the shows but you will not have to break the bank to own this ’68 Fastback GT 350 Clone. We acquired this Brittany Blue Beauty from a Car enthusiast in Washington State who owned it for the last 3 1/2 years and decided he needed the space for his next toy. He purchased the car already restored from an owner in Texas where the car spent most of its life. With several other sweet cars in his stable he only put about 500 miles on it in the 3 plus years that he owned it. We had this Pony shipped enclosed to our warehouse in the Atlanta, GA area and were amazed at the quality of the car from front to back, inside and out. If you are looking for an amazing Mustang Fastback that not only draws all the attention you could want but is also sure to be a fantastic investment then this may be the one for you!!! I will provide enough pictures and a couple of videos so you can hear it run, and do my best to honestly describe this cars condition so you can decide if this Pony belongs in your stable. Sit back, relax, and enjoy!!!
The body on this ’68 Fastback is in amazing condition!!! All of the work was professionally done approximately 6 years ago and there has probably less then 1000 miles on this GT 350 Clone since it was restored. Spending most of its life in Texas means they started with a very dry, rust free body. Aside from the obvious body modifications to turn this fastback in to the Shelby GT 350 look you see it appears to have all of its original body panels and they are extremely straight! You will not find any bubbles signs of rust anywhere along the body and the panel fit is fantastic including the fiberglass Shelby hood that lines up beautifully! Finished in Brittany Blue with GT 350 striping, the paint is near flawless. In fact the only flaws in the body I can see are a tiny chip on the trunk spoiler and one at the edge of the front fender where it meets the hood that were both professionally touched up and barely noticeable. Chrome and trim all look excellent! The fit and finish of the rear tail panel is great and you will see the correct Shelby Style gas cap for a nice touch. Rear tail lights are the sequential style tail lights which look awesome at night and are a nice upgrade. Windows roll up nicely and the glass is excellent although there are quite a few surface scratches in the original Carlite hatchback glass that could be polished out. It is easy for me to rate the body and paint on this Brittany Blue Fastback at a 9.5/10. Here is a walk around tour of pics and I also have a walk around video at the end of the auction.
As authentic as this ’68 Fastback is on the exterior, it is equally authentic once you open the door and slide inside. Beautiful Black interior with woodgrain deluxe trim is in near flawless condition!! You will notice the correct Woodgrain Shelby steering wheel that is really sweet and this car also has the correct Shelby center console with woodgrain trim and gauges. Fold down rear seat works great. Dash pad and carpeting look awesome and it comes with a brand new set of Lloyds Cobra Floor mats that add a nice touch. Just about everything on the interior works correctly although the temperature gauge in the center console is not connected but the factory temp gauge in the dash is functioning correctly and this Fastback runs nice and cool. It also has a nice high quality upgraded Custom Autosound digital Am/FM stereo installed in the dash, however it has not been wired yet and a CD changer can easily be added to this unit. Again it is easy for me to rate the interior condition a 9.5/10. Here is a look inside:
Release the hood locks and open the hood and you will find a nicely detailed engine bay with a strong running stock 289 V8 dressed with Cobra Valve covers and air cleaner. Although I do not have any paperwork documenting the work done it is obvious that this 289 motor was gone through and it runs out great. This Fastback was an original C-Code 289 car but now has a 4bbl Carburetor for a little added power. This car was originally an automatic from the factory and remained that way most its life until about 3 years ago when the owner in WA decided he would much rather have a 5-speed. He brought the car to a Mustang Specialist in his area that did the conversion to a T-5 speed which shifts smooth and strong and if you decide to go on a long highway cruise you will get great gas mileage in 5th gear from this Pony. Power steering makes handling a breeze and the entire suspension has been updated and rebuilt. Stopping is just as effortless thanks to the Power front disc brakes. Very nice soft rumble from the newer dual exhaust out the dual tips in back. I have included a video at the end of the auction so you can hear this Pony running. Here is a look under the hood:
The undercarriage of this Shelby Clone also looks excellent and is rock solid with no rust issues! I am not certain if the floor pans and torque boxes are original but if they were replaced they were done with the same high level of professionalism as the rest of the car. The undercarriage was painted in a black finish and at some point the driver side front floorpan got scratched most likely from a transporter. The scratches are simply cosmetic and could easily be re-sprayed to look as good as the rest of the undercarriage. There was a new fuel tank added at the time of restoration and the inside of the trunk is as rock solid as the rest of the car. The underside of the doors look great. The car does have its original door tag which will show you that this car was born a Raven Black with Black Bucket seats combination, original DSO was Davenport, Iowa and it came originally with a C-4 automatic and 2:79 rear end. I did not get a MARTI report because the bottom lime is that this is a sweet looking Shelby GT 350 Clone and nothing else really mattered to me. By now you have noticed it is riding on a great set of Shelby 10 spoke wheels wrapped in like new BFG Radial rubber. This Mustang is ready to cruise and if desired should handle a long distance drive home although I always think Transporting is a better option for long distance buyers. Here is a look at a few other areas of the car:
IN ADDITION TO THIS AWESOME GT350 CLONE WE ALSO JUST GOT IN A FANTASTIC PRESIDENTIAL BLUE 1968 FORD MUSTANG FASTBACK THAT WE WILL BE PUTTING UP FOR SALE SOON TOO. HERE IS A PIC OF THE TWO CARS TOGETHER:
