WELL, IF YOU HAVE BEEN NODDING YOUR HEAD YES TO ANY OR ALL OF THESE QUESTIONS THEN SIT BACK AND GET READY, BECAUSE THE CLASSIC GT, 4-SPEED PONY CONVERTIBLE YOU HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR HAS JUST ARRIVED!!!
For those of you who may be concerned that this is not a TRUE GT car I will put your mind at ease right now. As you can see in the MARTI REPORT below this IS a TRUE GT car. Even better, it is also an original Raven Black with Red interior, 4-speed, and is 1 of 169 produced with these paint/trim codes. Take a Look:
We acquired this Black Stallion from a great guy in Ohio recently who had owned this car since 2006. What is really amazing is that this Mustang was restored in 1987/1988 and looks like it could have been done last week. We have good ownership history paperwork as well as receipt for the work that was done at the time of restoration which included a rebuild of the original 302 V8 and 4-speed manual transmission. The car had 70,500 miles at that time and has just over 81,000 original miles on it now. Obviously this car was pampered and garaged since the restoration and runs and drives as good as it looks! Ownership history shows that the individual who had it restored in the late 80’s was from Ohio and sold it in 1991 to to another gentleman in Ohio who then sold the car in 2006 to the guy we bought it from. As you will see in the pictures that follow this is not a car that was full of rust before it was restored and still retains most of its original sheet metal. This is a strong #2 quality Classic Mustang that is loaded up with goodies and is extremely original. It will surely win plenty of local shows and would also be welcome at most of the larger shows where it would do well also. Best of all, it is turn key, ready to drive and enjoy and is a true pleasure to drive!!! This is a great time of year to enjoy a Classic Mustang Convertible and with the documentation and rarity this GT is definitely a wise investment! I will do my best to provide enough large images, a video so you can hear it running, and an honest description to help you decide if this Pony should be in your stable.
As I mentioned, this ’68 GT convertible received a professional restoration in 1987-1988. The body on this Raven Black beauty is extremely straight and body panel gap is excellent. The paint has a fantastic shine and reflection and was just professionally wet sanded and buffed so that it is ready for the shows. Bumpers, emblems and chrome trim all look great. This car has the deluxe hood with turn signals built in that do work correctly. The Red C-stripe is a beautiful accent to the body and interior color. Records from the restoration show that rear quarter panels had new skins done. The work that was done was done professionally and there are no signs of rust or bubbling anywhere on the body. While the paint and body look amazing I will not say it is flawless as there is a very small ding at the edge of the hood and there may be a rock chip or two that I missed. However, overall this is a drop dead gorgeous Mustang and the car looks as good in person as it does in the pictures. Here is a walk around tour of the body:
I believe these Classic Mustang Convertibles should be enjoyed top-down as often as possible but it is always nice to know that the Power Convertible top on this ’68 Convertible is in great condition and the car looks almost just as good with the top up as it does down. The power top works as it should and locks down nicely and windows seal up nicely when rolled up. The rear windows crystal clear. A red colored boot cover comes with the car for when you have the top down. Have a look:
It is hard to beat a Raven black and Red interior color combination on these Classic Mustangs and the Red interior on this Pony is in outstanding condition! Seat covers were redone at the same time the rest of the car was restored but also look practically brand new. Door panels, dash pad, carpeting all look great. Great set of Red matching Pony floor mats are a nice touch. All of the gauges are crystal clear and functioning well although the speedometer jumps around a little at low speeds. Believed to have just over 81,000 original miles. Tach in dash is working correctly. Nice Am/fm Sony stereo was added without cutting the dash. Seat belts for front and rear passengers. Great Hurst Shifter replaces the original 4-speed shifter. Steering wheel is in great shape with no cracks. All of the glass is in great condition and windows roll up and down nicely. Overall I think you will find the red interior on this GT is ready for the shows and looks pretty darn close to factory fresh. Take a peek:
This J-Code ’68 GT Convertible has its original 302 V8 4bbl under the hood that was completely rebuilt when the car had just over 70,000 miles. I have the supporting receipts to show this. The car now has just over 81,000 miles on it so the drivetrain has less then 12,000 miles on it since it was rebuilt 26 years ago. This motor is fresh and strong!!!! The Top loader 4-speed transmission was also rebuilt at the same time and shifts smooth and crisp and this car is a blast to drive!! The previous owner replaced the clutch several years ago as well new brakes. Steering is an absolute breeze with the Power steering that was added. New slave cylinder and control valve were done recently. This Pony also brakes amazingly well with Power front disc brakes. Suspension was also all replaced at the time of restoration and this Mustang handles the road as close to new as you can imagine with no squeaks or rattles. The 302 breathes out a healthy dual exhaust with aggressive tone at acceleration and you will definitely want to listen to the video below to hear how great she sounds. This Pony has been running nice and cool even in the 90 degree Atlanta heat. She loves to get up and go but will cruise at 70 mph no probe,e thanks to the original 3:25 gears in the open 9″ Ford rear end. Great stance with the 15″ Magnum 500 wheels wrapped in almost brand new Radial TA tires. This is the best running/driving 4-speed Classic Mustang Convertible I think we have had recently and I am sure the next owner will be thrilled with the ride. Take a look under the hood and then listen to the video!

As you will see in the pics below the door trim tag is still in place and matches the vin plate on the dash. We will be including the MARTI report documenting this cars originality as well as all of the receipts and history of this awesome GT convertible.
We just got in a fantastic ’67 Convertible that is pictured below. It is a an equally impressive car and is an automatic with Power steering, power brakes and factory air conditioning. Feel free to contact me if you would be interested in this one.
At this point I hope you can see that this is definitely a high quality Classic Mustang Convertible that will not only be a great investment but will also be a joy to drive and show.
