Let me start off by answering perhaps the most important question in many of your minds…Yes, this is a TRUE SS and Yes,  I do have the original build sheet to verify this! Now the next question,.. No, it is not the original motor, however it is a very healthy 396 that I was told came out of a ’69 Chevy and had a nice rebuild. With that said let me tell you that this is a great looking ’70 Chevelle SS in a beautiful and original color combination that you can drive and enjoy, take to the local car shows and cruise-ins and is priced very fairly.  This is not a show car but is what I consider a great driver quality muscle car. The 1970 Chevelle SS is considered by many to be the best year and the fact that this one has the original build sheet to verify it is a true SS makes it a very sound investment. Even better, it is an investment that you will have a blast driving….wait until you hear this big block growl in the video below!!!! I will do my best to provide an honest description and provide enough pictures so you can judge the quality of this sweet SS for your self. Sit back and enjoy!!

As mentioned this 1970 Chevelle SS has been restored and repainted its original Dark Green Metallic with White stripes. Originally it did have a white vinyl top but I think you’ll agree that it looks great without it.  Overall the body is in great condition! The car was restored approximately 10 years ago and the Dark Green metallic paint looks great with a few flaws here and there. There is a bubble in the paint about the size of a nickel on the top of the drivers side door. It looks like poor paint prep and not a rust issue and apparently has been there for years. There are some other spots along the body where you can see where there was some metal rust repair that was done pretty well but not to show standards. From 10 feet it looks fantastic but I like to be straight forward when I describe my cars. This is why I call this one a driver quality muscle car simply because it is not a show car. It is however a sweet looking true SS!! The Dark green metallic paint shines great and body panel fit is very good overall. The gap at the passenger front fender where it meets the hood is a bit wide and could probably be adjusted.  The Cowl style hood appears original and contrary to what some may tell you, not all 1970 SS Chevelles had a functioning cowl hood, it was an option. All 1970 Chevelle SS cars did have hood pins though which of course this one has. All of the chrome and bumpers look excellent. Windows roll up and down nicely and glass is all in nice condition. This SS has a great stance and is riding on original SS wheels wrapped in Firestone white letter radials with plenty of tread life.  Here is a walk around photo tour:

This car originally came with a green interior that was completely redone at the time of restoration and changed to a complimentary parchment white interior. In fact, at that time they found the original build sheet still attached to the drivers side door panel. Rather then try to remove it and damage it they cut the door panel around it and wrapped it in plastic and this is how it is today and you can see it in the pics below. The Parchment white interior is in beautiful condition and was completely redone. Seats, dash pad, carpeting, door panels, headliner all look great!! Original SS Steering wheel looks excellent. There is an aftermarket stereo in the original uncut dash that is not working. This was an original A/C car so all of the vents are there however the under hood components are not currently on the car but I do have them! The speedometer has been functioning intermittently and the fuel gauge just stopped working. This was a non-tach gauge cluster car.  Center console and staple style shifter look great and work great. There is a new set of SS floor mats.  Other then freshening up a few gauges and maybe adding some aftermarket gauges to monitor temperature and oil pressure the interior is in restored condition and looks fantastic. Take a look:

Although this sweet SS does not have the original matching # motor it has a correct 396 that I was told came out of a 1969 Chevy and was completely rebuilt at the time the car was restored. This motor is very strong and I am estimating horsepower at 350 hp. You can hear this baby running in the video below and you will hear that it has a nice lopey cam but nothing radical and it is very street friendly. A nice set of headers breathes out the dual exhaust and out the dual chrome tips and  has the muscle car sound you would expect! The turbo 400 transmission shifts strong and smooth. Power steering and power front disc brakes make handling a breeze along with the f41 suspension. The gears in the rear are stock 3:31 and make this car very friendly at highway speeds so it is a great cruiser and has not been running hot. The engine bay is nicely detailed and you will notice it is missing the Air conditioner compressor but I do have the original one that will come with the car. Check out the pics and listen to the sweet sound of this SS 396 in the video below:

This car spent most of its life in Florida I was told and as a result the undercarriage and floorpans are rock solid and original. The inside of the trunk is also rock solid although it does appear that the trunk pans were replaced with correct metal pans. This is typical of even the dry climate cars as water would eventually get in and  sit under the old mats and eventually create rust and pinholes.
