If you have been searching for an awesome 1979 Trans Am that is both very collectible and super fun to drive and enjoy then this rare 10th Anniversary 4-speed Trans Am might be the one for you!! We recently acquired this sweet TA from the third owner here in the Atlanta, GA area where this car has spent its entire life. We have complete ownership history starting in 1980 when it was purchased from Taber Pontiac in Atlanta, GA before it was sold to its second owner in 1983 and then to its 3rd owner in 2008 whom we bought it from.  Out of the 7500 Y89 Production 10th Anniversary Trans Ams produced, only 1817 were produced with the 400, 4-speed combination.  We have both build sheets to document this cars authenticity which no doubt adds to its investment value for the future.  This Trans Am is in very nice condition overall and can be driven and enjoyed as well as taken to the local shows and cruise-ins.  I will do my best to provide enough pictures, video and an honest description to help you determine if this is the Trans Am that should be in your garage. Sit back and enjoy!
The body on this 10th Anniversary is in excellent condition overall and because it spent its whole life in the state of Georgia did not suffer from the normal rust issues these Trans Ams are prone to.  The second owner had this car for almost 25 years and it is possible that at some point some panels were repainted or possibly the whole car received a repaint.  Overall the paint looks very nice but you will some minor flaws and a few chips in the paint that you would expect from a car that has been driven and enjoyed.  The hood bird and other decals look very good for their age.  The body panels on this bird appear to be original to the car and the body panel fit is very good.  The hood shaker has had the filler panel removed to allow air flow directly to the motor.  As you can see from the pics this car has tons of eye appeal but it is not in show condition but is in what I would call above average driver condition. It is definitely a car you will be proud to show up to the local shows and cruise-ins but it is not a first place trophy winner although it can easily be taken to the next level if desired.  These 10th Anniversary TA’s came with mirrored T-Tops which is a very cool touch. I personally believe these cars should be driven T-Tops  off whenever possible but the T-Tops look great and we have the original Fischer T-Top bags as well.  Here is a walk around photo tour and there is a video walk around at the end of the listing as well.

As you probably already know the interior of the 10th Anniversary Trans Am was quite unique and is a Silver Leather and has the bird embroidered in the rear seat.  The seat covers on this particular car were replaced at some point with correct originals which if you have ever priced them out you will know is quite expensive. The carpeting appears to be the original shag carpet as well as the door panels which also have the shag style carpeting at the bottom. The dash pad is in great shape with no cracks.  Headline looks very good but is starting to come unglued at the rear and can easily be corrected.  The plastic panels around the rear seats commonly flake and chop but these are in excellent shape. The 4-speed center console looks great and the original shifter is still in place and also looks excellent.  Gauges and lights all appear to be working with the exception of the fuel gauge which recently stopped working after we replaced the original fuel tank. It may simply need a new sending unit or at worst a new gauge. When we were replacing the original fuel tank we got lucky and found one of the Original Build sheets still attached to the top of the fuel tank. We removed it carefully and now have both of the Original build sheets to go with the car as well as an original tag that came attached to the interior from the factory.  Here is a look inside:

Under the beautiful Eagle adorned hood of this 10th Anniversary sits the original PWH Coded 400 V8 motor with under 88,000 original miles.  While these cars were not high horsepower motors in 1979 the 400 still puts out plenty of pep and when mated to the 4-speed manual is a lot of fun to drive.  These Trans Ams handle great and this one is sitting on the original 15×8 Turbo Style Wheels that debuted with this Anniversary Edition and are wrapped in Goodyear Radial rubber with plenty of tread life left.  The original Rochester 4bbl carb was rebuilt recently.  WS6 suspension and 4 wheel disc brakes add to the performance package. All of the A/C components are present and should be functioning correctly but may need a charge for next summer. The undercarriage is rock solid and dry as you would expect from a well cared for, garaged Southern car.  I know the next owner will love driving this head turning machine! Take a look:
